Lets talk about the Tri Pods. Where did the idea for this stile of war machine come from?

Young Yoon Gi's Tripod designs and the Martian look so similar to D'Israeli's designs in 'Scarlet Traces.'

Was there collaboration on the two steampunk War of the Worlds efforts?

Or do these designs look so similar because they are based off the descriptions in the novels?

Hi Andrew,

That's a good question.

It's based off of a description of a Tripod that I gave Young Yoon.

He did this design for me back in the 90's and a good deal earlier then the release of "Scarlet Traces".

Actually, his design with the WW1 era metal "hat" is similar to some of the very early pulp magazine Tripod designs.

That's neat.

Someone should put together a 'WotW Through the Ages' online gallery or coffee table book to show how the novel has been interpreted over the decades.

Thanks for the reply Joe.

That's a great idea Andrew.

Why don't you attempt it. The Net can furnish you with all the images and info you'd need to research and write this.
