I'd like to see this film, especially since it has some of the main cast from "Highlander: The Series" and Adam Baldwin ("Chuck", Full Metal Jacket"winking smiley involved.

The story line sounds great. I just hope it does'nt look like anime. And pardon my ignorance, but what is steampunk??
Just might be the best animated full length movie since Titan A.E.??

This does look seriously kick ass. There's no reason HM can't be involved in numerous productions.

Steampunk is a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century. but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. . . . . You gotta love Wikipedia

Just to clarify Joey's note a little more.

We're calling WOTW:Goliath "steampunk" because it is the closest widely used term for the retro historical epic we're telling.

But a more accurate term might be "dieselpunk" or "steam/dieselpunk".

Our technology and mecha uses steam in it, but has a more advanced esthetic then a lot of steampunk. While art directing the designers, I told them to visualize a world where "1914 meets 1933 meets Star Wars". So we have a lot of the post Victorian design and feel of 1914 mixed in with the wicked esthetic of the early deco designs in architecture and technology and a generous dose of advanced Martian tech.

If you look at our designs for the ARES fighter planes like the Valkyrie, Stormcrow and Raven you'll see this mix of bi-plane (and TRI-plane herr Baron!) but on airframes that are completely derived from the classic racing planes of the early 30's.

The we integrated heat rays and steam powered afterburners.

See. Steam/Dieselpunk!

Hope that clears up any confusion.

Good choice.
Steampunk as a genre needs more exposure. In the world where old ideas are repackaged often, I feel that Steampunk is one of the few, that hasn't reached it's potential, yet. Looking forward to this animation.

A few contacts I had with Steampunk were:

-STEAMBOY (2004) Japanese animated film co-written/directed by Katsuhiro Otomo (AKIRA) (C: Loved the Over-The-Top action in it)

- STEAMPUNK (2000) Wildstorm Comics by writer Joe Kelly and artist Chris Bachalo. It was cancelled after 12 issues (24 intended originally) + a prologue and a preview comic called Steampunk Catechism.
(C: Never could wrap my head around Kelly's writing, but Bachalo's art was breathtaking, unbelievable)

- and last but not least (HM fans take note) A GENTLEMAN'S DUEL (2007) BLUR STUDIO animated short. (C: It's funny, worth to be in HM movie too, and simply THE BEST animation short I've seen.)

This is One Man Oppinions: Mine &

Don't forget the fantastic steampunk sequences in the seminal anime anthology, "Robot Carniva.". Five of the shorts would definitely be considered "steampunk" by any definition of the word.

"Robot Carnival", would that be the same as "Moni Moni"?

If so, loved the Lovecraftian-tentacle-circus (and NO, it's not porn-tentacles, jagoff).

Best segment was the racecar-mindfuck-overdrive, so long as you turned-off audio & played your OWN choice on the stereo.
