This is supposed to be the cover for an upcoming issue, by Lorenzo Sperlonga:

I took the liberty of clumsily photoshopping the logo to see how it's gonna look:

And this is a new HEAVY METAL star: SOPHIA, the main feature in the upcoming Summer Special:

A sequence that was probably crucial in the decision of being picked by Heavy Metal:

Thanks Scream, Liked your take on the Lorenzo cover--it is based on a new short story by Eric Kraus and Rudy--nice short. Thanks for posting the images from "Sophia"--it really is an amazing story, the French translator even called me to tell me how much he enjoyed it. Doesn't hurt that is is sexy as well as being so beautifully drawn. Best, Kevin

New solicitation:

HEAVY METAL FALL 2008
by Various
Heavy Metal returns with "Love Craft" and "Mardi Gras" #2!
MATURE THEMES
Magazine, 150pgs, FC SRP: $6.95

This is probably a 2nd HALLOWEEN-themed issue, since "Mardi Gras #2: "The telescope of Charon" is of course a continuation of the first volume (4 in total) reprinted in the Fall 2006 Halloween Special, and "Love Craft", although I've no idea what it is, it probably has something to do with the famous writer H.P. Lovecraft. However, the first Halloween Special included the first book of Requiem's spin-off Claudia: Vampire Knight so I find surprising that the 2nd instalment of this book is not included here.

The Fall issue is out featuring the cover that was shown on the first post of this thread. Now we can compare my poorly-photoshopped efforts with the real thing, and I wasn't that far off the mark after all:

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to you reading the Maura story which this killer Lorenzo cover is associated with.

Heavy Metal has published the first 14 pages but there is more to come, as we are planning on releasing two comic books and then will offer as a 64 page graphic novel.

Please visit www.comiccoffin.com for more details!

Best,

Eric

Follow up to this year's Spring issue:

by Pat Mills & Oliver Ledroit

One such vampire, a German solider killed during World War II, is Heinrich Augsburg, and he must discover for himself his new existence as a vampire in the afterlife ? and the fate of the only woman he ever truly loved, Rebecca. The long awaited 3rd and final instalment of Borgia, by Jodorowsky and Manara, will be released in France on December the 3rd. The first 2 books were featured in the March 2005 and July 2006 issues, and then reprinted in gorgeous oversized hardcovers.

The 3rd book is titled "Les flammes du b?cher", that is: "The fires of the stake" or "Burnt at the stake" in English, and will surely be reprinted in Heavy Metal during 2009. Here's the original cover by Manara:

Latest news on Borgia: It's not a trilogy, but a tetralogy. There will be a 4th and final volume, to be published in 2009!

And here it is:

HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE

HEAVY METAL JULY 2009
The latest issue of the classic comic anthology features the third and final installment of Borgia by Jodorowsky and Manara, plus other hard-edged science-fiction fare. (C: 0-1-2)
MATURE THEMES
Magazine, 150pgs, FC SRP: $6.95

However, luckyly for us, they're wrong about this instalment being the final one, according to the original French publisher:

http://www.drugstorebd.com/bd/borgia-tome-3-9782356260215.htm
"La s?rie se conclura par un quatri?me et dernier tome en 2009."

The series will be concluded with a fourth and final volume in 2009.

Here’s a preview of an upcoming short story, “Threads of Fate” written by me that’s coming out later this year, not sure in which issue though. Art chores were done by Milton and Felipe Sobreiro, whom I had previously collaborated in the Spring 2007 Special with the story “Living Morpheus”.

Belated thanks, Intone!

My next contribution to Heavy Metal is the short story “The Circus of Revelations”; art chores done by Héctor Germán Santarriaga.

This one is coming out in the May issue; available in May. Hope you guys like it.
